open hole isolation packer

Saltel Annular Zonal Isolation Packer

The Zonal Isolation Packer is based on Saltel Xpandable expandable Steel technology

Saltel Annular Zonal Isolation Packer (AZIP) is based on exclusive expandable stainless steel technology. This zonal isolation system comes up with a fit-for-basin design to achieve zonal isolation. This isolation is effective at high pressure during injection phases, and at moderate pressure during production phases.

The deformable sleeve of the Annular Zonal Isolation Packer sets between the borehole and the base casing. The sleeve starts deforming at a predetermined differential pressure from the casing. This sleeve once expanded will mold to the actual shape of the wellbore. The sealing with the borehole (uneven surface) is achievable thanks to the patented thin layer of bonded elastomer. If requested, dynamic rings can complete the outer skin on each extremity to enhance the sealing efficiency (annular seal).

The Annular Zonal Isolation Packer is built onto a one-piece mandrel by Welding (AZIP-W) or Crimping (AZIP-C).

There is no hidden internal connection. Both ends are fixed and serve as protection to the expandable sleeve while running in the hole.

Both injection and collapse pressures are held by the packer expandable sleeve resistance. The annular packer features a valve system. This valve provides safety in case the packer is set in front of a wash-out.

However, the valve does not allow to trap fluid in the isolation packer. This valve system closes in case the flow exceeds a preset value, to reduce any risks of fluid communication. Expanding the packer sleeve will centralize the base casing at the same time, with regards to the borehole.

Isolation Packer open hole or cased hole

The Isolation Packer can be set both in cased hole and open hole configurations.
