Internal casing patch

Internal casing patch setting procedure

Saltel internal casing Patch is a field-proven alternative to enhance the oil recovery or to avoid plug and abandonment.
One of the best assets of our internal casing patch is the maximized internal diameter that we guarantee post-installation, leaving full access to the well below.
The Patch is a permanent remedial solution to repair damaged sections of tubing or casing*. Saltel Internal Casing Patch can shut-off unwanted perforations, seal leaking sliding sleeves, and other remedial operations.

The Down Hole Expansion Tool (DHET) is slid inside the internal casing Patch. The inflatable packer section is then inflated enough to grip the Patch (but not enough to begin the expansion). The assembly is then run in hole to depth, at setting level.
The packer is inflated using pressure from the surface to expand the Patch’s top extremity, anchoring it in place. The packer is then deflated, run in 3 ft / 1 m, and the next section is expanded. We repeat the process as often as necessary until the expansion of the whole length, then we pull the BHA back to surface.
The setting procedures for Saltel Patches are very different from those used with other expandable systems. The steel is not pushed out to a pre-determined diameter by a cone but is expanded using an inflatable element, which will ensure the Patch is pushed out to seal effectively against the inside of the existing casing, irrespective of the precise casing ID, shape or form.
