Saltel Patch successfully restores casing integrity in water disposal well USA

Context

A US operating company had to cope with disposing 800,000 barrels of fluid (waiting in numerous tanks) from the area. This was the only disposal well for the operator in the area, so the need for well remediation was critical. The log showed bad casing from 1300ft to 1338ft. The client was looking for a reliable mechanical isolation solution to isolate leaking squeeze perfs, and damaged casing (leaking collar).

Solution

A 4.5in Reinforced Patch (16m – 52ft) was selected to cover the leaking squeeze perfs and the damaged casing. Due to the customized length of the patch, it had to be welded at the shop and then shipped to location on a semi-flatbed truck. A crane was required for the rig up of the patch, to ensure it would not bend while picking up.
