Casing Repair at Surface Total Austral, Neuquén, Argentina
Context
The 7’’ 23lb/ft well is located in the province of Neuquén, Argentina. A leak was detected in the casing at 8m from the well head.
Solution
A 7in Slimline 4m Saltel Expandable Steel Patch (SES Patch) was selected to cover the leaking zone. First, a back-off of the 3.5in tubing was done to have access to the damaged zone. Once the patch was at depth, the patch was anchored with a pressure of 260 bar (3770psi). It was fully expanded in a total of 10 steps, in 2 hours and without issue.
