Difficult annulus cement operations
Cementing operations in low-pressure formations, high permeability zones, and long casing strings can be difficult with standard cement slurry, resulting in significant losses and insufficient annular integrity. To address the challenge of creating a secure and stable environment for producing wellbore fluids, a solution is to use a Steel Packer in combination with a Stage Collar as part of the casing string.
Steel Packer is a fit for basin external casing component that aims to create a seal between two sections of the annulus, effectively forming a barrier between the two sections. A stage Collar is a casing component that provides a secure connection between the casing and the annular section. Combining the Steel Packer and Stage Collar as part of the casing string will create a secure environment for a two-stage cementing operation.
Robust steel external casing packer
The packer positions above the problematic formation in a part of the hole that is stable and not likely to collapse. This packer then expands using a pressure-activated mechanism, allowing it to tightly fit the walls of the hole and provide support for the cement circulating from the stage collar to the surface. This 2 stage cementing process allows for sealing off the problematic formation and ensures that the area is properly secured and stabilized.
