Secure your annulus with Saltel annular seal

Saltel expandable steel packer is an annular seal between the borehole and the casing. Additionally, the Saltel stainless expandable steel packer provides an effective seal between annulus sections by expanding permanently.

Cementing applications

Open-hole annulus isolation packers are downhole barriers that provide annular zonal isolation in a wellbore. Additionally, these packers allow for overcoming many of the issues associated with primary cementing operations. Therefore, operators can rely on these innovative tools to achieve wellbore integrity, ensure optimal production, and minimize costly remedial work. External packers are effective, for instance, in cases of inadequate zonal isolation, poor cement bond, loss zones, or channeling.

To provide strong separation of different zones in both simple and complex well environments, steel annular seals can act as barriers. Moreover, the packers have a design to enable quick and easy deployment during well construction, resulting in faster and more cost-efficient operations.

The Saltel expandable steel packer has a specific design to enhance cementing operations by providing durable reinforcement to the annulus for optimal annular seals. By facilitating cementing operations in both cased and open holes, the Xpandable external casing packer ensures that Saltel Xpandable steel packers minimize the risks of fluid/gas leakage while simplifying well construction and reducing costs. As a result, operations result in less rig time and smaller needs for materials. In addition, Saltel packers are particularly useful in creating separate annulus areas for various cement protection scenarios, including cement stage equipment.

  • Single-stage cementing applications (Saltel Xpandable* steel ECP – External casing packer).
  • Multistage cementing applications (Saltel Xpandable* steel ECP).
  • Cementing Off-bottom applications (Saltel Xpandable* steel ECP).
  • Cement backup applications (Saltel Xpandable* steel ECP).

Other applications for annular seal

In addition to these applications for annular seal, Xpandable Steel Packers are also suitable for the following.

  • OH Multistage ball-drop fracturing, including isolating individual stages during the stimulation phase, to achieve better control over the process. The actuation of ball seats enhances the annular barriers between the fracturing stages. The packers, once expanded, stop fluid from flowing between stages.

This allows for more precise control over the amount of fluid and pressure that is applied to each stage. This helps to ensure that the fracturing process is completed efficiently and effectively. (Saltel Xpandable* – Frac Packer).

  • For long-term annulus zonal isolation requirements, the use of packers is a common method of completing an annular seal. Packers are placed in the annulus and expanded to form a seal between the tubing and the casing.
  • Compartmentalizing the reservoir (Saltel Xpandable* steel AZIP – Annular Zonal Isolation Packer).
  • Acid stimulation applications with Saltel Xpandable* steel AZIP – Annular Zonal Isolation Packer.
  • P&A operations with Xpandable* steel AZIP – Annular Zonal Isolation Packer as a permanent plug, with or without cement above.

Another option is to use one or more packers for:

  • selective multizone production
  • preventing annular crossflow
  • performingmultizonal acidizing
  • sealing off a water zone
  • conducting other remedial operations.
