1st Patch in Midland
Starting work in January 2012, Saltel Industries has performed several jobs setting Expandable Steel Patches in the US for perforation shut-off and casing repair.
Recently, our local team of specialists has set their first Patch in Midland, Texas.
Patch : 5.5in Reinforced 12m/40ft
Length : 38.8 ft / 12.23m
Set in 19 steps - 5 hours
Drifted to 4.32in / 110 mm successfully
100th Patch successfully set
Saltel Industries is pleased to announce the setting of our 100th Expandable Steel Patch.
This Patch was a 7in Slimline
Length: 8m (26ft)
Application: Perforation shut off in casing 7in 20lbs/ft
Location: Canada.
The patch was successfully set in less than two hours and drifted at 150mm (5.905in)
After setting pressure test was solid.
It's now just one year since our subsidiary opened in Edmonton, Alberta. A second North American operations base opened at the end of 2011 in Midland, Texas. Our trained and experienced local staff can evaluate the feasibility and propose the best Patch suited to your well conditions and requirements.

REPAIRING INJECTION PORTS AND CASING BEFORE FRACING USING EXPANDABLE STAINLESS STEEL PATCHES
In 2010 a new technology was launched in North America to expand stainless steel patches using a high pressure inflatable packer. This has now become a regular service, both for perforation shut-off and casing repair. The versatility of the technology has also enabled it to be used to seal leaking cementors and frac ports, with the unique ability of creating a high pressure resistant inner lining and yet enabling the passage of 3 ½ in balls to activate the ports below.
This paper will describe rapidly how the technology works and follow up on the progress made since last year. It will present the testing process to validate use at pressures up to 10,000 psi, and describe the first field operations. It will conclude by presenting the development of possible future applications of expandable stainless steel for improving completions.

Saltel Industries is pleased to announce that we will be exhibiting our range of expandable stainless steel casing Patches at the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Denver (USA) from 30 October to 2 November.
Saltel Industries will exhibit at the SPE Annual and Technical Conference and Exhibition from October, 30th to November 2nd. The Exhibition will take places in the Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th Street, Denver, Co (USA).
The stand will display the range of expandable patches for casings from 4 ½ in up to 13 3/8 in.
Case histories will describe the different types of applications where the patches have been used, for shutting off perforations and repairing casings.
The "Pre-frac" patch has also been used for sealing completions prior to multizone fracking.
